Healthy Living. Simply.

October 19, 2012
You know, it wasn’t too long ago that I made a huge life change. One that would seriously — no joke — change my life forever. And for the better.
Remember about a year and a half ago, when I was posting my Livestrong Girl series? I didn’t realize at the time that what I was doing was single handedly reshaping who I was at the core. I changed my body, I changed my mind. I challenged myself to move more, physically. I challenged myself to make better choices when it came to food and beverage. I become increasingly aware of who I was, who I wanted to be, and where I was going.
And I can say, very proudly, that where I have ended up (so far) is exciting, scary, challenging and hopeful. What am I doing now, you ask? In addition to running my playgroup, I have taken on the new role of manager, CEO, buyer and marketing director for my tiny little start up, fondly called Asher Organics. What’s so awesome about Asher Organics? Asher Organics is the brain child and ultimate result of my life changing health and fitness journey.
My husband and I worked tirelessly, for months, to carefully select the exact components we needed to provide for our customers. We considered things like organic v. conventional, ingredients, convenience, price and uniqueness. Some things we carry aren’t unique and can be found in almost every grocery store across America. But other things we feature are unique, from small, relatively unknown, operations.
You see, not only have I been inherently interested in my own body and the health of my family, but I’ve become increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability — both nationwide and within our own hometown economies. There is a direct correlation between freshness and nutritiousness of produce and the distance it travels before it ends up on your plate in your home. The closer the produce is grown and harvested to your home, the better it tastes, the more nutritious it is, and most importantly, the more money goes back into your local economy.
But the buck doesn’t stop there. At Asher Organics we feature small batch skin care products with a focus on soaps and shampoo bars. I work my butt off to make sure we carry the best of the best. And I will continue to work hard to support my family in our health and happiness, and to support yours as well.
I haven’t posted in a while, and for that I truly apologize. Running a business (and another business that actually parades as a playgroup) is extremely hard work – although, after searching for the best payroll company, I’ve come across some time-saving software that has really helped streamline the HR side of the job allowing me to dedicate more attention to the important aspects of my business. One of those aspects is accountancy, I need to know that all my financials are up to date and have recommended to my accountant to use FCDMS to keep on top of documentation related to my business. Keeping on top of any incoming and outgoing expenses is key in keeping my business ticking over. But from here on out, I’ll utilize my blog to keep you up to date on health news, maybe new products featured on the Asher Organics website, and maybe some other random stuff here and there. I need to stay in better touch with my readers.
I hope you take me back. I’ve missed you. And I want to share my journey with you. I hope you’ll have me.
Smiles 🙂
