In honor of Mother’s Day, I’ve decided to take inventory of my life since Love Bug was born. Here are my thoughts:
Before Love Bug was born, my husband and I both hated our jobs. We were miserable day in and day out. Two weeks after Love Bug’s arrival, my husband started a new job. He loves it. Two months after Love Bug came along, we decided I wasn’t going back to work. We’ve both never been happier.
Before Love Bug, we smoked cigarettes. It was two years ago this month that we decided to quit. To bring a baby into this world and still be smoking was not even an option for us. We got a head start and now we are healthy, our lungs are free from tar and all of our belongings and clothes don’t stink like smoke.
Giving up smoking was not easy though. One of our best friends is currently trying to quit smoking so we have been giving him some advice. Some people switch to a cooling, mint-menthol flavour snus to help them out, but there are other options too. For example, I know quite a few people who have found that switching to vaping made it much easier to gradually give up cigarettes.
Vaping products have come a long way over the past few years. For instance, nowadays, you can get Shortfill eliquids and other types of vape juices in just about any flavor to suit your tastes. This makes vaping more exciting than regular smoking. In order to get different flavors, users will have to find a vaping company to purchase these liquids from. For those in the UK, they could get something like premium UK e juice from Vape Cloud UK, for example. This would allow them to experience a range of different vaping juices. If you are trying to give up smoking, it is therefore well worth researching whether vaping could help you to kick your habit for good. If you’re not sure where to buy your vaping supplies from, search for ‘vape shops near me‘. Realizing you have a problem is the hardest step to take. Treating the smoking addiction is the easy bit!
Before Love Bug, we sat around and did nothing. When we found out I was pregnant, I started exercising every day. Granted it was only power walking outside when the weather was nice, or on the treadmill when the weather was gross, but I was still active nonetheless. As a byproduct of my fitness, my boy is a fabulous sleeper. And now that he’s a little bigger and the weather is much nicer, we go for a walk almost every day. My body, and my dog’s body, thank Love Bug for this wonderful excuse to burn off calories and energy!
Before Love Bug came along, I had never changed a diaper. And thank god because if I had, we wouldn’t have had a baby.
Before Love Bug, I didn’t know the meaning of the word pain. I hope it’s true and that I forget about it. Quickly…
Before Love Bug graced us with his presence, I had no idea, not one inkling of a clue, how tiring and difficult and taxing being a stay-at-home-mom would be. I’m exhausted.
Before Love Bug, I knew my buttons could be pushed, but I didn’t know how much higher my patience level could be.
Before Love Bug, I had no idea the things my body would be able to do and to endure. My body has been through nine months of textbook pregnancy, 12 hours of hard labor, and countless more hours of repairing itself while taking care of a new baby and being neglected by it’s owner. The metamorphosis that my body has undergone is truly amazing.
Before Love Bug, I didn’t know how rewarding, and saddening, being a mom could be. Every smile and every giggle makes me happy. Every tear and every scream makes me want to cry.
Before Love Bug entered our lives and turned everything upside down and topsy-turvy, we didn’t realize how different the world looked through the eyes of a child. Everything is new. Everything is exciting. Or scary. Or extremely hilarious. Watching a baby see things for the first time is one of the most rewarding and inspiring events I have ever experienced.
To all of the new moms, veteran moms and soon-to-be moms in my life, I salute you. It’s an honor to join the ranks of Motherhood. Despite wanting to pull my hair out at times, I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Happy Mother’s Day!
