The Friday Five 2.0 is getting a makeover! Check it out and see what’s changing and what’s staying the same. Then stick around for Runfessions!
Happy Friday! Today the ladies at Fairytales and Fitness and I have a fun announcement. We’re changing up the format of the Friday Five 2.0! We love the Friday Five so much and want to keep things fresh for you all. Going forward, the Friday Five will be more about a quick five-minute read than a theme-based list of five items.
The Friday Five 2.0 Gets a Makeover!
You’re still welcome to list things in fives and the name of the Friday Five will remain the same. We feel making the Friday Five a 5-minute read will allow more linkers to read and interact with more blogs while eliminating some of the pressure on us to come up with a theme each week. I’m certain I’ll hang on to the list of 5s for the foreseeable future because, let’s face it, I’m a creature of habit and I can’t stray from what I’m used to.
Having said that, welcome to my March Runfessions post! I have a few things to runfess this month. Five to be exact (imagine that)!
I runfess…
March was an incredibly stressful month!!
As I mentioned last week, I took (and passed!) my NASM-CPT exam. It was one of the most stressful experiences I’ve had in a long time. Deep down I was confident I knew the material but I was still a nervous wreck before the test and even afterward while I awaited my results. Just ask Wendy. She knows what a nutcase I was!
I’m SO GLAD March is OVER.
Aside from my NASM exam, I co-hosted a baby shower and gave a presentation at the corporate headquarters of one of the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon sponsors. The shower was a TON of fun but it came on the heels of a month and a half of flu in my house. I’m just thankful I wasn’t sick for the shower. Phew! As soon as the shower was over I had to switch gears into presentation mode. After my presentation was over I felt a HUGE weight lifted. It felt like all the stress of the past four months melted away all at once.
I’ve been hesitant to commit to a race distance in May.
With my injury and slow comeback, I’ve been hesitant to commit to a race distance for the Cleveland Marathon. If I’m being truthful with myself, I don’t think I’d be happy with anything less than the half, so that’s what I’ll be aiming for. So long as I can safely increase my mileage to half marathon distance, I’ll be good. Use code RFCLE10 to save 10% on your Cleveland Marathon registration (this code is valid for any race distance and the challenge series)!
My name is Rachel, and I’m a race addict…
I kinda, sorta, accidentally, on purpose registered for my third Marine Corps Marathon in October. Oops. I needed a break from marathon training and I’ve indeed gotten said break. But let’s face it — I’m an MCM junkie. It’s an addictive race if ever there was one. This time I gained an entry from someone who registered as Active Duty, and had received a Golden Ticket from 17.75K as well. He gifted me his entry from 17.75K. In exchange, I will be wearing photos from a few soldiers killed in action from his unit. I’m both honored and humbled.
I’m running Iron Horse, too.
For not having any racing plans for 2018, my race plate is filling up rather quickly. In addition to Cleveland and MCM, I’ll be running the Iron Horse Half Marathon in Midway, KY on October 14. I’ve mentioned my love for Iron Horse many times on this blog and this year I’m an official race ambassador. It’s a beautiful course and I can’t wait to get back to Midway and run with the horses. I’d love for you to join me, too. By using code 18RACHEL5 to sign up, you’ll save $5 and secure your spot in Midway!
That’s all I got for my runfessional this month. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend with all the holiday celebrations!
